Winter Makeup Look & Skincare Routine
Posted on June 12, 2017
This week, it feels like winter is hitting hard! It rained the entire day on Thursday pretty much non-stop! So we’re going to take a look at what you can do if you want velvety skin for perfect makeup looks this winter.
Skincare is important all year round, but in winter you may notice things start to change.
The cold elements, such as harsh winds, can be really hard on your delicate facial skin which is always exposed (unless you rock a balaclava!)
I always notice my lips dry out and get sore from wind burn and my nose and forehead gets super dry and flaky.
If you experience dry skin like me in winter, swap out your gel cleanser for a nourishing rich cream cleanser.
Applying a lip conditioner throughout the day to protect and nourish is never a bad idea!
In the evenings, try a replenishing moisture packed mask aswell. I love to exfoliate with my creamy and gentle Antipodes exfoliant and do the Manuka mask once or twice a week. I love a pamper night in the bath, candles lit and listening to the rain hammering down outside!
Before bed, adding a night time serum before you apply your regular night cream and eye cream works so amazingly well. You wake up with the most perfect velvety skin ready for your day!
I love Antipodes products so much (as you can probably tell!) it’s the only thing I’ll recommend. Take advantage of our free Reincarnation Gentle Exfoliator gift through Maverick!
My favourite makeup look in winter is definitely keeping the skin minimal and matte with only a subtle highlight on the brow bone, nose tip and high cheek bone.
Pairing perfected skin with a bold red lip and simple black wing liner is my favourite winter go – to. If you want to create more drama with your look, swapping out the bright red for a darker plum shade never goes a miss, and pop on a false lash.
